Although I've been making pottery in Maine since 1987, I started "Pasture's Edge Studio" in 2001 after moving to a corner of the Hammond family farm. An over-sized 2 car garage provides me ample space to work, teach classes, and host scout groups or "paint-your-own-pottery" parties. I can step outside to watch birds visit our pond, see cows and horses browsing the pastureland, and catch the occasional wild turkey, fox or deer crossing the fields. I feel so fortunate to be able to work, be inspired by, and raise my son in such a lovely environment.
My functional stoneware is fired in a large electric kiln, which preserves the bright and vivid colors of my signature glazes. The work is durable, non-toxic, and safe for use in the oven, microwave or dishwasher, provided sudden temperature changes are avoided. Enjoy!
