I delight in the smooth textures of natural things worn down by time - like round, smooth beach stones. I translate that feeling into my pots, into the lip of a mug or belly of a bowl. I've refined and fine-tuned my simple shapes and glazes since the early 70's, tweaking here and there in search of that elusive "perfect pot".

Working on a quiet cove in Casco bay, surrounded by my perennial gardens, the islands in the bay and the changing tides, I find time disappears and there is no "me", just the clay, the wheel, the work, and the transformative magic of fire. I create series of tranquil landscapes and seascapes that evoke a nostalgic state of mind that conveys some of that beauty.

To extend the life of my stoneware pottery, heat and cool my pots gradually so it will have time to adjust to extreme temperature changes. It is microwaveable, ovenproof and dishwasher safe.
